Seven people who were injured in the gas explosion in Baodi, North China's Tianjin Municipality on Tuesday afternoon have been discharged from the hospital,while nine individuals responsible for the accident are under custody, the local authorities announced on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the local authorities, three people who were severely burned in the accident are currently in stable condition without life-threatening risks. Seven out of the 20 with minor injuries were discharge from the hospital.
Another six will soon to be discharged.
A preliminary investigation found that the illegal construction work by the company Tianjin Dazhan Construction Co resulted in the accident. The company's work violated the related regulations of the local measures for the administration of excavating urban roads.
Nine people related to the company have been placed under custody.
With the district authority's swift organization and emergency repair of municipal facilities in the areas affected by the accident, the gas supply resumed at 8:10 am local time on Wednesday. By noon, electricity supply resumed with the exception of the location where the accident happened. Traffic was also restored by the afternoon.
