A View in the Mist - Art exhibition

This event in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, is a small-scale yet intriguing art show that displays artistic works created by emerging Chinese creators such as Ji Songlin, Li Yifan, Zhang Shuo and Zhang Xinyan.

Displaying a majority of the works from these creators, the exhibition covers a large range of themes and styles such as how artists construct and remodel their "subjective self" through paintings, idyllic depictions of human behavior through arts and how artists use the artistic language to reshape everyday life scenes.

Compared to realistic paintings, such works tend to be more abstract when it comes to form and content, so this sets zero limits for audiences to freely interpret them.

Hangzhou has a rich artistic culture marked by one of China's leading Fine Arts academy, the China Academy of Art. So, it is a good choice for art tourists.

Where: Kongshan Gallery, Hangzhou

When: Until August 14, 2022

Price: 48 yuan ($7.10)

Born This Way - Art exhibition

The exhibition in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality is a solo art show for emerging artist Zhou Shaojiang, who was born in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The exhibition takes "carpet" as its main theme as these home furnishings have long been the artist's chosen medium for self expression.

According to the artist, his first carpet collection was completed in 2019. Following that he realized that carpets weren't just warm and soft textiles but three-dimensional structures whose order, created by weaving, fascinated him.

The artist graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 2018. His works often boldly experiment with multi-media in an attempt to depict his observations on social and cultural changes.

There is also a forum where visitors can share their thoughts about Zhou's art.

Where: Organhaus Gallery, Chongqing
