Firefighters are the most active and reassuring heroes in harm's way. People who are saved and protected by them send their gratitude, and also feel sad when the firemen are exhausted or injured. Recently, a firefighter in Shangrao, East China's Jiangxi Province, sat on the side of the road to rest after a continuous firefight. A police officer found there was a wound on the firefighter's ankle. After he learned that the firefighter was accidentally injured during the previous training and the wound was about to heal, he was relieved to leave. In Yichang, Central China's Hubei Province, a bunch of firefighters sat on the steps of a bank entrance to rest as it rained when they were fighting floods and draining water. The bank employees saw them and warmly invited them into the lobby to take shelter from the rain. But the firefighters were worried about the muddy water dirtying the lobby and refused. People in this country are protected by unsung heroes, and ordinary people care about those who devote themselves to the greater good. They are important people in this era when we need to care for each other.
