The spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the UK stated on Thursday that China strongly condemns and firmly disapproves of the fictitious allegations created against China by US and UK intelligence officials.
The so-called cases they listed, including "stealing" Western technology and interferingand interfering in a congressional election in the US, are pure shadow chasing as well as the typical example of a thief crying "catch thief," the spokesperson added.
The MI5 Director General Ken McCallum and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray warned Wednesday about China's commercial espionage thrust in the West, in a joint address at the British intelligence service's London headquarters, according to media reports.
"China is the biggest long-term threat to our economic and national security," BBC quoted FBI director Christopher Wray as saying, McCallum then proceeded to say that the challenges posed by the Chinese Communist Party were "were" game-changing," while Wray called them "immense" and "breath-taking".
The spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the UK pointed out that it is the US and UK intelligence agencies who are notorious for their constant engagement in eavesdropping, theft, infiltration and subversion against other countries.
The purpose of the UK and the US is that of smearing China's political system and creating anti-Chinese sentiment through the spreading of all kinds of China-related lies, the spokesperson said, urging the US and UK intelligence agencies to better understand the times we live in and to abandon their outdated Cold War mentality.
The spokesperson concluded by urging the US and the UK to stop spreading the "China threat" rhetoric, and to stop creating confrontation and conflicts among countries and people.
