An insider from Tesla confirmed that its sheet metal spray center in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province, caught fire and the cause is still under investigation, domestic financial news outlet Yicai reported on Tuesday.

Tesla’s official customer service representative said that the center has been closed and car owners affected by the fire can contact the company, Yicai said.

The report came after the news of a fire at a Tesla’s sheet metal spraying center in Suzhou on July 8 that destroyed more than 100 cars arousing concerns on the internet.

According to The Paper, Suzhou’s fire department was informed that a fire had started at Tesla's Suzhou sheet metal spray center that day, but only four or five vehicles were burned and  not more than 100 as rumored on the internet. The specific cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Experts noted that the   repairs to the body of the vehicle are not just about fixing cosmetic damages butthey are also important for maintaining the functionality and safety of the car, as well as ensuring its longevity.

According to Tesla's official website, the company currently has 20 directly operated sheet metal spray centers. The fire happened at Tesla's only official sheet metal spraying center in Suzhou.
