A gas explosion at a resident's home in North China's Tianjin Municipality on Tuesday has killed four and injured 13 as of Wednesday afternoon. Rescue work has concluded and all the trapped individuals have been rescued with an all-out joint effort by the local authorities, CCTV reported on Wednesday afternoon.
A thorough investigation into the cause of the incident has been launched by local departments.
The explosion happened at 7:15 am on Tuesday in a residential community in Beichen district, Tianjin, causing damage to a six-story building, with some still trapped in the damaged building. Rescue and resettlement work are underway. After more than four hours, one inhabitant was successfully rescued and another is being rescued. Three people are still missing.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
After the accident, the city's top officials gave emergency directives and rushed to the scene, requesting the municipal emergency bureau and other related departments to organize rescue work as quickly as possible, prioritizing the saving of lives, improving security alerts and preventing secondary accidents.
