China's Ministry of Science and Technology on Thursday issued technology-supported execution outline for carbon emissions reduction period 2022 to 2030, stating to cut 18 percent of GDP carbon dioxide emissions, and 13.5 percent of energy consumption per GDP unit by 2025 over levels in 2020 supported by technological methods.

The outline was issued to push forward a series of technology innovations to secure success in reaching carbon emissions peak before 2030, and reserve research and development for the carbon neutrality before 2060.

The outline included 10 measures to achieve the carbon emissions goals including low-carbon energy transformation, relevant techniques R&Ds, program and talents development and supports for low-carbon technology firms.

In the low-carbon energy transformation sector, the outline vowed to improve the self-innovation of energy techniques to accelerate the replacement of fossil energy by 2030. A group of techniques should be deployed by 2030 to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in a number of energy intensive, high emitting industries including steel, concrete, chemical engineering and nonferrous metals, according to the outline.

The outline referenced implementing 50 low-carbon demonstration programs with different focuses by 2030, and selecting around 500 low-carbon technology firms and developing a group of leading companies.

China announced on 2020 to have CO2 emissions peak before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060, a vital act to address the global climate change.
