Recently, local police arrested a man surnamed Wu, who had been hiding in a mountain for two years in Liuzhou, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Wu attacked a man surnamed Wei in an altercation two years ago. He then fled the crime scene and Wei was later taken to hospital.

After Wu learned that the medical treatment cost would be huge, he went into hiding in a mountain to avoid being tracked.

During the past two years, he lived in an abandoned house, mainly by picking wild fruits and vegetables for a living. He was so afraid of being discovered that he didn't dare to clean the weeds. After being captured, Wu sighed that he has not used a mobile phone for two years. He now has difficulty in speaking, no different from a savage. "It may be better to be a prisoner," Wu said.
