A sculpture that was created by Chinese artist He Miao, Dream Butterfly, debuted at the Burning Man 2022 Art Festival in Black Rock City, Nevada, the US. 

He uses bamboo, a traditional material, to depict the ancient Chinese philosopher Chuang Tzu's famous "butterfly dream." The work brings Chinese wisdom and creativity to one of the US' most exciting and utopian-like art festivals. 

Made of thousands of pieces of bamboo, the newly created sculpture is the only artwork from the Chinese mainland at the 2022 festival, which takes as its theme "Walking dream."

The Chinese artwork refers to Chuang Tzu's story in which he describes being unable to distinguish between dream and reality, as such it suggests how art's creativity and imagination can encourage people to deal with different setbacks in a constantly changing world. 

"As a veteran Burner, this was the first time I created an art piece on site," He told media. 

A graduate from China's well-known China Academy of Fine Arts, He is a diligent artist who has created many public sculptures and installation works.  

The Burning Man festival is an exciting annual art gala held in the US to embrace artists from all over the world. Almost 80,000 people from around the world gather in the desert for the festival every year for eight days. 

Although the festival was postponed for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its focus of promoting "artistic values" and "innovation" have not changed.
