China's Shenzhou 14 crew spent the Mid-Autumn Festival in space for the first time, enjoying food including moon cakes and lettuce grown by themselves in space, which was also the first time astronauts enjoyed vegetables grown in space.
The three astronauts, who entered China's Space Station on June 5, recorded their first Mid-Autumn Festival at the space station with a video showing the floating moon cakes, lettuce grown in space, and holiday food packs.
"We are very grateful to the ground team for making our space life full of romance and surprises," said China's Shenzhou-14 crew member Liu Yang, holding up a food bag painted with hearts.
Seeds carried by the astronauts grew into two green lettuce plants after three months of cultivation. "We can't wait to enjoy fresh vegetables grown in space," said Cai Xuzhe, another Shenzhou-14 crew.
