A burial ceremony for the ninth batch of 88 Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) martyrs was held in Shenyang of Northeast China's Liaoning Province on Saturday morning.
Around 200 people including government and military officials, veterans of War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-53) and members of the public attended the ceremony.
The ceremony began at 10 am to the music of lament as Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers escorted caskets containing the remains at the CPV martyrs' cemetery. PLA soldiers then escorted the caskets around half of the square before laying them on their final resting place.
All the attendees made three bows to the martyrs, and 27 soldiers fired 12 guns to pay the highest tribute.
Since 2014, the remains of 913 Chinese soldiers have been buried at the cemetery.
On Friday, the remains were carried by the
Y-20 transport aircraft from South Korea to Northeast China. The Chinese Air Force sent two J-20 fighters to escort the remains of these Chinese volunteer soldiers, in order to pay the highest tribute to the martyrs.
Some 197,000 Chinese People's Volunteers soldiers are confirmed to have died during the war, and most of them were buried on the Korean Peninsula. China and South Korea have jointly carried out the handover of the remains of the martyrs in South Korea for nine consecutive years.
