An exhibition that focuses on promoting art exchanges between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries was launched as part of the 2022 Silk Road International Arts Festival in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Saturday.

Displaying 55 artworks such as oil paintings, installation works and photos, the show reviews China-Latin America art exchanges from 2011 to 2021.

Among the works of 26 artists from 13 Latin American countries, three replicas of paintings by Colombian master Fernando Botero are the highlights of the show.

Carried out both online and offline, the online exhibition offers seven special short films that introduce the countries of Brazil, Argentine, Mexico, Uruguay, Columbia, Panama and Nicaragua to audiences in China.

These short films offer audiences a glimpse into these countries' historical sites, folk customs, cultural landmarks and food and art culture.

The art exhibition is a major part of the Latin American and Caribbean Arts Season, which was first established in 2013. Since then, more than 300 Latin American artists have been invited to participate in cultural and art exhibitions and exchanges in China, playing a positive role in promoting mutual learning between China and Latin America.

The Silk Road International Arts Festival is an annual international cultural gathering held in Xi'an. The 2022 gala also includes other exciting events such as the International Children's Drama Week, exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage and also the 2022 Xi'an International Digital Interactive Entertainment Culture Week.

The exhibition is scheduled to come to an end on Sunday.
