A newborn baby boy with four hands and four feet in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province, has been diagnosed with the parasitic fetus, a rare congenital disease of which only 200 cases have been reported worldwide.
The boy's mother, surnamed Yan, decided to keep the baby for further treatment after the baby was found to have four hands and four feet during pregnancy tests.
The baby's chest was connected to the parasitic fetus by bones, blood vessels, and intestines, and the parasitic fetus has no head or heart but external genitalia with urinary function. The baby was also found to have many other diseases and was in urgent need of surgery to save his life.
The medical team operated on the baby and removed the parasitic fetus, which weighed about 260 grams. The baby boy recovered well and has been discharged from the hospital.
