China and Serbia, who are trust-worthy partners, can rely on each other with the promoted bilateral friendship and strengthened mutual trust during the fight against COVID-19 epidemic, said Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in New York on Wednesday.
In a meeting during the UN General Assembly, Wang conveyed the cordial greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping to Vucic and spoke highly of Serbia's accomplishment in national constructions.
"China is willing to continuously provide support in accordance with Serbia's need and work with Serbia for a more closed bilateral relations," Wang said, adding that China looks forward to working with countries in Central and Eastern Europe including Serbia to further promote win-win cooperation, which started 10 years ago and has born some fruits with much potential to be explored.
Vucic asked Wang to convey sincere greetings to President Xi and appreciated the rapid development of bilateral practical trade cooperation and China's strong support in Serbia's social and economic development.
Vucic said that the China-Serbian relationship truly reflects mutual respect and trust, and that Serbian side cherishes the friendship with China and will never change its position in upholding the one-China principle.
Senior officials from both sides have expressed support to each other. Chinese President Xi met with Vucic in Beijing during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games in February, and the two leaders spoke highly of the "iron-clad" friendship between the two countries, which is considered as a model for international relations.
