A rare picture of two wild pandas hanging out together in a nature reserve in Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, has been captured by an infrared camera. The two pandas were identified as mother and baby based on their appearance, body size, the color of their fur, and behaviors.
In the video, the mother panda was walking ahead, while her cub in the back was playfully scratching at the tree trunk. Wild pandas are unsociable animals and prefer to live alone. Their cubs are usually weaned at about 1.5 years old and live independently at 2.5 years old.
The Qinling Mountains is the highest latitude distribution area of giant pandas in China, and the density of this species ranks top in the country.
At the same time, the Qinling Giant Panda is an important population of giant pandas, with a unique distribution pattern and evolution history, which is obviously different from the giant pandas in Southwest China's Sichuan Province and Northwest China's Gansu Province.
Wild pandas have been spotted in many places in China. The Wolong nature preserve in Sichuan captured the first photo of a wild white panda in the world in 2018, , whose color was because of albinism.
