China will not export China's development model to other countries, nor will import the models from other countries; and we oppose other countries to impose their models on China; every country should explore its own way to modernization that suits its own situation, said Sun Yeli, spokesperson for the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Sun made such remarks on a Monday conference, after the week-long 20th National Congress of the CPC concluded on Saturday in Beijing.
When asked if "Chinese modernization offers a new choice for achieving modernization," a phrase used in the report to the 20th CPC National Congress, means China intends to export its development models to other countries, Sun said that although modernization is a common pursuit for people from all those countries, yet there's no unified model to achieve such goal.
Chinese modernization shares similarities with other countries' path to modernization, and it has its own characteristics, said Sun, noting that China's huge population means the country cannot simply copy other countries' model.
Sun also emphasized that Chinese modernization is for all its people to live good life, to realize common prosperity, and not leave certain groups behind.
The spokesperson also noted that Chinese modernization is combinations of both material and spiritual civilization; a harmonious co-existence of human and nature.
"Chinese modernization is a modernization of peaceful development. We did not walk down the old path of war, colonization and pillage, but through peace, development and win-win cooperation," said Sun, noting that China hopes every country can pursue the peaceful development model.
He reiterated that China won't export its own development path, nor import other countries' model. "When we say Chinese modernization offers a new choice for achieving modernization, it expresses our attitude for promoting exchange between different civilizations and countries," said Sun, noting that China is open to sharing its experiences, and is willing to learn about others' examples.
