Universal Beijing Resort announced on Wednesday that the theme park, Citywalk and two hotels were temporarily closed on Wednesday in accordance with local anti-epidemic measures, as the city recently tries to curb a COVID-19 flare-up.
"We will continue to assess the impact on operations and strive to resume operations as soon as possible," the resort said on Chinese Twitter-like social media Sina Weibo.
According to the announcement, the resort will refund or reschedule tickets for affected tourists, and continue to carry out deep cleaning and disinfection, nucleic acid testing and other efforts related to the prevention and control of the epidemic.
On Tuesday, Beijing reported 19 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and one new local asymptomatic case, with the country reporting a total of 338 cases nationwide.
Following Universal Beijing Resort's announcement, some netizens cast attention to the situation of Shanghai Disneyland. The Shanghai Municipal People's Government said on its official Wechat account on Wednesday that the Shanghai Disney Resort is operating normally and no transmitted COVID-19 cases were found to have visited the park.
"The management measures taken are in accordance with the requirements of local epidemic prevention and control, and we hope that visitors will understand and support [related policies]," it added.
