exam supervisor / 监考员 / (jiānkǎoyuán) 

A: Why didn't you answer your phone all day yesterday?

你怎么昨天一天都不接电话呢？

(nǐ zěnme zuótiān yītiān dōu bùjiē diànhuà ne?)

B: I was an exam supervisor for the entire day yesterday, so I couldn't pick up the phone. 

我昨天当了一天的监考员,不方便接电话。

(wǒ zuótiān dānɡle yītiān de jiānkǎoyuán, bù fānɡbiàn jiēdiànhuà.)

A: You're a student studying at school, can you be an exam supervisor?

你是在校读书的学生,你能当监考员吗？

(nǐshì zàixiào dúshū de xuéshēnɡ, nǐ nénɡdānɡ jiānkǎoyuán ma?)

B: Of course. Our school organized a test where teachers had to recognize students' faces, so the exam supervisors for this test were students.

当然,我们学校组织了一场让老师刷脸认学生的考试。这场考试由学生当监考员。

(dānɡrán, wǒmén xuéxiào zǔzhīle yīchǎnɡ rànɡ lǎoshī shuāliǎn  rèn xuéshēnɡ de kǎoshì.zhèchǎnɡ kǎoshì yóu xuéshēnɡ dānɡ jiānkǎoyuán.) 

A: You mean the test papers given to the teachers had the students' faces on them so they could identify the students? 

你是说在老师们的试卷上放不同学生的照片让他们辨认吗？

(nǐ shìshuō zài lǎoshī mén de shìjuàn shànɡ fànɡ bùtónɡ xuéshēnɡ de zhàopiàn rànɡ tāmén biànrèn ma?)

B: You're right. The aim of this test was to help teachers better understand each student. Many of the students said that it was good to be an exam supervisor.  

你说对了,举办这场考试的目的是让老师们更了解每一个学生。很多同学都说当监考员的感觉真好。
