Chinese and English versions of textbooks about e-sports will be released during the Beijing University E-Sports Festival, which kicked off on Wednesday night.
The festival, the third one in its history, includes e-sports competitions, industry forum and the blue book about the booming industry in China.
Held by the Communication University of China (CUC) and Beijing Performance & Arts Group, the festival will last until December 20. It aims at inspiring young people's passion for e-sports.
Wang Lei, from CUC said at the opening that the e-sports competitions can stimulate the enthusiasm of college students and encourage them to engage in the industry through various events, which integrate traditional culture, sports and technology.
As an industry facing the future, the e-sports need more young people to step into the field of combining art and technology.
According to Wang Xiaohui, the festival's director, the blue book and e-sports textbooks are compiled by CUC and China's tech giant Tencent.
Based on the development of e-sports in China, the blue book sorts out how e-sports spread positive social values, explore the local models and the possibility of the e-sports spreading Chinese culture overseas.
After the opening ceremony, the festival also hosted a e-sports competition themed on concert.
