A Chinese young man won the Plastering and Drywall Systems section of the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition with his excellent putty scraping skills, and it was the first time a Chinese competitor claimed gold in this section.
Ma Hongda, a student at Zhejiang Construction Technician College in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, starts training at 8 am every day for the competition and his steel-toe shoes were worn out in less than two months.
Plastering and Drywall Systems requires a comprehensive command of plastering flat surfaces, installing drywall systems, and creating decorative moldings on projects from private homes to historic houses.
"Many people underestimated the importance of plastering and drywall systems, but in the competition errors made in the vertical and horizontal dimensions should not be larger than one millimeter," Ma said.
"I'm very determined that I represent my country to participate in this world competition to fight for gold and win glory for my country," the young man added.
