A Long March-5B Y4 rocket carrying China's Space Station Mengtian laboratory module blasted off on schedule Monday at the Wenchang Space Launch Site, South China's Hainan Province. Mengtian, also the second lab module, will be the last piece before China completes the space station assembly.
Meng Lingqiang, a researcher from Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, participated in developing a laser device onboard Mengtian lab module. He was at the launch site with his girlfriend.
Meng said that in the past two years when he was with his girlfriend, his busy work made him often unable to complete the agreement with his girlfriend, but he still got his girlfriend's understanding and support.
The young researcher said he will continue to contribute to China's space industry by participating in many major projects, including the sky survey telescope, and the successful launch of the Mengtian laboratory module is the best gift for him and his girlfriend, Meng added.
