The year 2022's tallest scallion grown in Zhangqiu, East China's Shandong Province, reached 2.44 meters. It sparked heated discussion among netizens, with someone saying that he couldn't even jump as high as a scallion.

Zhangqiu is famous for its high-quality scallion, which are not only long, but also colorful and tasty. In 2020, a 2.532-meter-long Zhangqiu scallion won the Guinness World Record for being the world's longest scallion.

"I am the owner of the year 2022's 2.44-meter scallion, and I am also the record holder of the 2020 Guinness World Records," said Miao Fayong, a farmer from Zhangqiu, holding the "Scallion King" certificate of honor. Miao said that the high quality of his scallions is due to the good environment and scientific planting methods."I have planted a total of 20 mu of scallions in 2022, and the yield per mu of land is between 8000-10000 catties."

Many locals, like Miao, have not only got rich by planting scallions, but also promoted Zhangqiu scallions to the world. They said they would further promote scallions in the future, and lead the development of local agricultural industries.
