A group of 32 officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) undertaking the Policing Training Seminar in China completed their one-month onsite training in East China's Fujian Province and returned to Solomon Islands on November 6, according to the official WeChat account of Chinese Embassy to Solomon Islands.

This was the first time the Solomon police attended the seminar in China under the of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Police Cooperation between China's Ministry of Public Security and Solomon Islands Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services.

With the joint efforts of all parties, the intensive training covering a wide range of law enforcement constructive subjects was successful and achieved the desired results.

The training ranged from unarmed tactics to the use of weapon techniques, including VIP guard techniques, police operation command and onsite command, large-scale event planning and control administration. These trainings are scenario based where officers are tested to make plans and decisions to respond to these levels of real and complex situations, according to a news release of the Solomon Islands Government.

The delegation also visited multiple local public security institutions in four cities in Fujian and conducted profound research and communications.

According to Ian Vaevaso, the policy force deputy commissioner of Solomon Islands, who led the RSIPF delegation, this high-level international policing program is designed to meet the current RSIPF policing deficiencies and future security challenges in Solomon Islands.

"I am extremely satisfied with the outcome of this training and of the high-quality performance of RSIPF officers during the training. I am confident that RSIPF has improved its capacity and capability to tackle future security challenges," Vaevaso addressed the conclusion of the training seminar.

Vaevaso sincerely acknowledged the Chinese government and Chinese Ministry of Public Security for the kind support in offering such a great opportunity for RSIPF to be able to undertake such advanced and high-level policing development training in China.

On return to Solomon Islands, the officers will conduct further training for RSIPF members sharing the knowledge and skills they have acquired through this training seminar to improve officers' performance and effectiveness in the workplace.

At the request of the government of Solomon Islands, China's Ministry of Public Security has dispatched CPLT to Solomon Islands since the beginning of this year in accordance with the cooperation principles of "professionalism, efficiency, friendship" and "openness, transparency and goodwill," as well as signed the MoU on the police cooperation.

China also assists the Solomon Islands with urgently needed riot prevention supplies for police use to effectively help the Solomon Islands police to strengthen capacity and enhance the ability of response to riot.

This training seminar in China represents another successful cooperation between the two sides under the background of overcoming the difficulties of the COVID-19 epidemic and fully demonstrates the high-level friendly cooperation between the police departments of the two countries.
