Recently, a university in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei Province, held a fishing competition to enrich the students' extracurricular activities.

A teacher surnamed Liu from the publicity department of the school, said it was the school's first fishing competition. All fish are raised in the school pond. There were 16 teams taking part in the competition that day and students have caught a total of more than 1,080 kilograms of fish. The team with the most "rewards" caught more than 120,000 grams. Most of the fish are turned into "fish dishes" in the school cafeteria, free for students and teachers to eat.

"It is hoped that while they have fun fishing, they can realize that food is hard to come by."

Videos of the students rolling up their pants and catching fish with big smiles was recorded by teachers and posted online. Netizens said the activity was very interesting and made them jeolous. "There used to be a lake in my school, but we were just asked to pick up garbage," one netizen joked.

"It may taste better after fishing by themselves," another commented. "Such activity has combined education with recreation, helped students experience life in labor work and taught them to cherish food and friendship. It is very worthwhile."
