China National Offshore Oil Corporation's (CNOOC) oil fields in southern Iraqi province of Maysan broke the benchmark of 300,000 barrels of daily crude oil production, equivalent to about 45,000 tons, reaching the maximum output level, which demonstrates the success of China-Iraq energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, CNOOC told the Global Times on Wednesday. 

Since CNOOC entered the Iraq market in 2010, the company had helped build more than 1,500 kilometers of crude oil transmission pipeline, and the daily oil output has been lifted to 300,000 barrels from only 88,000 barrels before 2010. 

By the end of October, 2022, the accumulative output of Maysan oil field group has surpassed 1 billion barrels, said CNOOC.

The operation of Maysan oil field group has created more than 30,000 jobs for local society, said Xie Wensheng, an representative from CNOOC, who said that the company also helped build water pumping station, improved various infrastructure including road, power grid, a school and an hospital there.

Currently, CNOOC has established oversea production bases in over 40 countries and regions in six continents, including in Brazil, Canada and the UK.
