The unique Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup mascot La'eeb has unexpectedly become popular among Chinese soccer fans, with videos and pictures of people cosplaying the mascot appearing on Chinese social media, and someone even dressing up their cats as the mascot.

Since the start of the World Cup, Chinese social media has been flooded with photos and videos of people wearing white towels and black hair clips dressed as World Cup mascot La'eeb.

"It was late at night and I saw the light in the living room was still on, and I noticed my husband wearing a white blanket on his head with my black hairpin on it, which was quite chic and interesting," said a netizen on the Chinese social media platform Sina Weibo.

The mascot, based on the traditional Arab male headdress, not only adds a lovely element to the World Cup, but also makes more people around the world know more about the traditional Arab culture.
