The State Post Bureau (SPB) of China on Tuesday refuted a market rumor of large area suspension of logistics sector, noting that the current operation is running normally.
There were some delivery centers that were suspended due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic but accounted for low proportion, said the authority via its WeChat account.
The SPB stated that since November 21, the number of parcels received per day reached 260 million, and the number of packages delived reached 270 million to serve more than 500 million customers everyday.
The SPB noted that the upper stream and down stream of the whole industrial chain were affected by the pandemic, which has postponed of product delivery in some cases.
The SPB has summoned domestic some major logistics companies including China Post, SF Express, JD Logistics, to address any issues that may impact parcel delivery.
Moreover, local post authorities were asked to negotiate with local governments to accelerate the recovery of delivery stations and facilities. Package delivery sites, which are used to transport essential goods, should be given priority.
According to data from China's Ministry of Transport, the national logistics network runs smoothly on Tuesday. The national post sector received 255 million packages, 2 percent growth over Monday, and the delivery number reached 259 million, grew by 4.4 percent.
Besides, the number of cargo trucks across nationwide expressway reached 6.14 million, 2.59 percent rise over previous day. The daily railway cargo transport volume reached 10.62 million tons, 2.4 percent decline than Monday.
Sea ports processed 29.9 billion tons of cargo and 709,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), declined by 10.6 percent and 16.4 percent than previous day, respectively. Cargo flight number on Tuesday reached 680, 33.6 percent increase over Monday with 502 of international flights and 178 domestic flights.
