croquet  / 门球 / (ménqiú) 

A: I have heard that you went home last weekend to see your grandparents, did something interesting happen?

听说你上周回家看爷爷奶奶,有什么有趣的事情发生吗？

(tīnɡshuō nǐ shànɡzhōu huíjiā kàn yéyé nǎinǎi, yǒu shenme yǒuqù de shìqínɡ fāshēnɡ ma?)

B: Something fun really did happen, my grandmother took me to play croquet.   

还真有,我奶奶带我去打了门球。

(hái zhēnyǒu, wǒ nǎinǎi dàiwǒ qù dǎle ménqiú.)

A: I'm not familiar with croquet, but I know that it is a bit like golf, right?

门球对我来说太陌生了,但我知道它似乎和高尔夫球有些像,对吗？

B: When it comes to format, croquet is like a "hybrid" of golf and pool. But the rules are much simpler.

形象点来说,门球是高尔夫球与撞球的"混血儿",但它的规则相对简单。

B: Croquet originated from France, and later slowly entered China. In 1970, croquet began being promoted as an activity for the elderly. 

门球最初起源于法国,后来慢慢传入中国。自1970年起,门球开始作为老年人的活动项目推广开来。

(ménqiú zuìchū qǐyuán yú fǎɡuó, hòulái mànmàn chuánrù zhōnɡɡuó.zì yijiuqilingnián qǐ,ménqiú kāishǐ zuòwéi lǎoniánrén de huódònɡ xiànɡmù tuīɡuǎnɡ kāilái.)

A: I see. I will try to introduce the sport to my grandparents next time.
