The statue of Chinese model soldier Lei Feng, by Chinese artist Wu Weishan (center), is unveiled on March 1, 2023 at Beijing's downtown Wangfujing Street to mark the 60th anniversary of the call to learn from Lei Feng by Mao Zedong and other older generation revolutionaries. The bronze statue was created in 2012 by Wu, president of National Art Museum of China. It captures the moment when Lei walked in the spring breeze with a smile on his face. From his cheerful and warm expression, the viewers can feel Lei Feng's emotion, humanity and warmth. In 2015, this work was selected for the Chinese textbook published by the People's Education Publishing House for primary school students, inspiring generations to inherit the spirit of Lei Feng and become the "Lei Feng" of the new era.
