The Victoria Branch of the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) hosted its annual dinner on November 24, 2022 to  commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia. Acting Consul General of China Zeng Jianhua delivered a speech, underlining that mutual respect and mutual benefits have been the mainstream of China-Australia relations.

The economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia is highly complementary, and the two countries share a common vision in addressing climate change, improving people's quality of life, scientific and technological innovation and development, and regional cooperation, he said.

Zeng pointed out that the profound friendship between the people of China and Australia is a source of strength for the development of state-to-state relations. The Chinese and Australian people are hardworking, intelligent, love life and advocate peace. The friendship between the two countries is a long-term cause that requires the joint participation of the two peoples. 

He expressed the hope that friends in the business community of the region can become a bridge of understanding between the people of the two countries, saying China and Australia have the courage and wisdom to rise above their differences and seize opportunities to usher in a more mature and stable China-Australia relationship and open up bright prospects for China-Australia relations in the new era. 

About 130 people attended the dinner, which had China's Fenjiu liquor on offer.
