Wudang Mountain, located in Central China's Hubei Province, every year receives more than 100,000 overseas tourists and over 5,000 students from foreign countries to learn martial arts, according to the official data by the administrative committee of Wudang Mountain's tourism special economic zone.
"The Wudang School of martial arts is not only popular in China but has also attracted a lot of fans from overseas," the manager of the committee told Hubei Daily.
Jake Lee Pinnick from the US is one of the international fans. He has learned martial arts in Wudang Mountain for over a decade. Jake is now married and living in the area having become a martial arts teacher.
"Now I'm a 16th generation of the Wudang Sanfeng Academy. I'm obligated to spread the Wudang culture and Wudang martial arts," Jake said.
Mohammed is another international student from Egypt.
He said, "Practicing Wudang martial arts has a positive impact on my body and mind. It has become my way of life."
The local Wudang Martial Arts Association has set up 10 branches overseas, with more than 10,000 members registered.
