The China Development Forum (CDF), an annual high-level event hosted by the Development Research Center of the State Council, China's cabinet, is scheduled to run from March 25 to 27 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, the first major conference to be held in the country after the conclusion of the annual two sessions.
It also marks the first time for the annual meeting of the forum to be held offline since the epidemic outbreak in 2020.
Oliver Bäte, CEO of Germany-based Allianz, will co-chair the forum, and more than 100 overseas multinationals, leaders of international organizations and well-known scholars will attend the forum, an indication that the Chinese market remains an appealing one for them, event organizers disclosed on Monday.
Themed "Economic Recovery: Opportunities and Cooperation," this year's CDF will focus on opportunities in the Chinese market, stabilization of global industrial chains, and the green transition, said Zhang Laiming, deputy director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, at a press conference on Monday.
Zhang explained that the theme takes into account the economic situation at home and abroad. The world today is in a period of turmoil and change, with multiple challenges and crises intertwined. Anti-globalization phenomena are rampant, the international economic and trade order has been destabilized, the recovery of the world economy is in difficulties, the development gap is widening, and development confidence is low.
"But peace and development are still the common expectations of people of all countries. A new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is developing. The digital economy is booming. New industries and new formats have injected impetus into the world economy. The development momentum of many emerging economies is improving, providing strong support for world economic growth," Zhang said.
Officials from the Chinese central government, including more than 30 leaders of ministries, will introduce China's policy orientation at the forum.
The CDF is an annual high-level international conference committed to "Engaging with the World for Common Prosperity."
