Police in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province are investigating a case involving a woman who claims to have killed her husband and hidden the corpse in the freezer, according to an official statement.
A woman surnamed Zha has turned herself in to the police in Gusu district, Suzhou, according to the police statement posted on Monday night. Zha claimed that she had killed her husband surnamed Pang due to domestic conflicts and has been hiding his corpse in the home freezer ever since, according to the statement.
The police immediately detained Zha and began an investigation into the case. On Monday, the police department asked the prosecutor to approve the arrest of Zha, according to the statement.
The case aroused public attention after a short video about the case was published online on Saturday. The video was believed to have been uploaded by Pang's father, in which he claimed that Zha had kept Pang's body in the freezer for over 15 months, Qianjiang Evening News reported on Monday.
The story was a trending topic on China's Twitter-like platform Sina Weibo on Sunday.
Pang, born in 1991, and Zha, born in 1993, got married in 2020 and have a daughter, Qianjiang Evening News reported on Monday. Their apartment in Suzhou has been sealed by police and security guards are on site.
