Livestreamers attacked while livestreaming in Xiamen, E. China’s Fujian Province; suspect caught by police

Two livestreamers from Xiamen, East China’s Fujian Province, were attacked by a suspect with a knife while the livestreamers were livestreaming on Tuesday evening. The suspect from another place was caught by police on Wednesday. 

A video clip circulating on the internet on Tuesday evening shows that the livestreamers were livestreaming outdoors when a man in black appeared out of the blue with a long knife and slashed the knife at them from behind. 

The suspect was caught in another place early Wednesday morning. 

According to a statement from the local police, the incident happened outside a café of a local college in Xiang’an district in Xiamen around 8:46 pm on Tuesday. The local police and 120 ambulance swiftly arrived at the scene soon after they received the report. 

According to the police, the victim surnamed Shi and Ye were attacked by the suspect from behind their backs outside a café of a local college. They were injured in the hand and in the back and the suspect fled the scene. 

The police soon carried out an investigation and quickly identified the suspect, surnamed Luo. Luo was apprehended by police from another place on Wednesday. 

According to police investigation, Luo had a quarrel with the victims on the online platform prior to the incident. 

He sneaked into Xiamen and slashed at the victims with a knife outside the college café. 

At present, the two injured have been sent to hospital for treatment with no life-threatening danger. The case is under further investigation.
