Show on slide projectorsAn exhibition showing the history of slide projectors in China is currently being held at the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing.
The exhibition,
Slide/Show, Light Images in Chinese Contemporary Art, sorts out archives and works to show the important role slide projectors have played in China since the 1980s and their development. The exhibition contains three sections: Communication, Reflection and Transparency. They discuss how slides and projectors became the main medium for China's artists to create back in the 1980s.
The exhibition provides a new perspective for looking back at the early development of Chinese contemporary art. Even today, these machines are still shaping Chinese artistic discourse.
The exhibition is also scheduled to be held in Lille, France in 2025.
Ancient book exhibitionAn exhibition for ancient books from the Song (960-1279) and Yuan (1279-1368) dynasties are now being held at the Shanghai Museum.
As the important carrier of the historical memory and intellectual wisdom of Chinese civilization, ancient books are an important inheritance.
The Song and Yuan dynasties were peaks in the history of China's cultural development and a golden stage in the history of ancient books.
During this period, papermaking and ink making entered a mature stage.
Ancient books at the time were mostly made from paper, but there were also scrolls and other forms. Those ancient books reflect the beauty of art.
The Shanghai Museum has collected dozens of ancient books from the two dynasties. Most of these books are exquisite and there are beautiful rare ones with highly artistic and aesthetic value.
