The China Science Fiction Convention 2023 was held in Beijing Shougang Park on Tuesday. The 2023 China Science Fiction Industry Report was released on the same day. In the report, experts summarized several highlights in the current development of China's sci-fi industry.

First, digital technology has effectively empowered the sci-fi industry; second, new formats, especially today's rising short videos, are playing an important part in the sci-fi industry. Videos related to sci-fi are quite popular on short video platforms such as Douyin, China's version of TikTok. Other highlights include the increasing market share of sci-fi mobile games, and most importantly, sci-fi amusement projects at theme parks are also becoming more popular than ever across China.

From June 13 to 18, Puccini's opera Tosca, co-produced by the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Shanghai Opera House, and Shaanxi Grand Theater, will be held at the NCPA.

The opera, which premiered at the Constantine Theater in Rome in 1900, is hailed as one of Puccini's most successful operas of the early 20th century. In 2022, the NCPA co-produced the world classic version of Tosca by bringing together artists with rich experience in opera creation and production.

The co-production gives this opera special significance. This newly produced opera opens up deeper artistic exchanges between theaters and also creates a new era of green and low-carbon production by utilizing advanced stage costume resources.
