A woman from Langfang, North China's Hebei Province, shared a video on social media showing clothes placed in a stainless steel washbasin being heated to the point of emitting smoke, providing a vivid demonstration of the power of the scorching 41 C heat.

The video shows several clothes placed in the basin have been burnt and damaged, with visible scorch marks. "I put the clothes in the basin to wash and went out, and I found the clothes emitting smoke when I returned home," the woman explained.

Many netizens said that they were not surprised at all. "I haven't felt such scorching temperatures in a long time. It feels like anything can be melted," some of them commented.

Many cities in northern China continued to issue high temperature warnings, as residents there are experiencing weather extremes that could go down in history.

The highest temperature in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei reached and even exceeded 40 C, with multiple meteorological observation stations having recorded temperatures surpassing historical records.

The National Meteorological Center also issues high temperature orange warnings, the second highest across weather warming system.
