A man in Hangzhou, the provincial capital of East China's Zhejiang Province, lost his way in the green belt and was trapped for four days and three nights, surviving by eating wild flowers and drinking dew. Netizens expressed sympathy for the man's suffering, but were also shocked that "survival in the wild" could be staged in such a metropolis.
The 52-year-old man surnamed Zhao, who was working at a construction site in Hangzhou, went out alone to buy breakfast. However, he accidentally entered the greenbelt and got trapped due to being unfamiliar with the surroundings.
As Zhao's family couldn't reach him for several days, they had no choice but to seek assistance from the local police.
According to the on-site video taken by the police officers, the area is not only vast in size but also densely covered with lush plants, with the height almost completely obscuring an adult.
The greenbelt is located near the airport and is rarely visited by people, which could be one of the reasons why Zhao remained undiscovered for several days, said netizens familiar with the local area on social media.
After an extensive search conducted by the police, Zhao, who was weak and fatigued, was found under a tree and safely reunited with his family after being checked without other physical problems.
This incident serves as a direct reflection of the improvement in urban greening, said a netizen.
