A post-95 man becomes a full-time embroiderer, driving more young people to embrace intangible culture heritage

A blogger named "Li Wo" gained a attention on a livestreaming platform recently. His real name is Wang Lianghong, a Gen-Zer from the Buyi ethnic group in Southwest China's Guizhou Province.

Wang learned wax dyeing and embroidery from an early age, viewing them as routine chores similar to cooking. Since 2020, he has established a studio, designed embroidery products, opened a livestreaming account, and participated in intangible cultural heritage study classes. He has attracted 50,000 fans in two years, thanks to his daily persistence.

His livestreams, featuring intricate wax dyeing and vibrant Buyi embroidery, attract up to 80,000 viewers, and his short videos have garnered up to 1.95 million views.

"We need young people to carry on our traditional culture," Wang said. "I want to be the person who breaks prejudices and inspires more people from the post-90s and post-00s generations to carry on our intangible cultural heritage."
