Meconopsis, often called as "the flower closest to the sky," is also hailed by many netizens as the "goddess" of the West Sichuan Plateau. Recently, a netizen posted a set of photos on a short video platform taken at the top of the Balang Mountain, Southwest China's Sichuan Province. In the photos, the woman is holding the flower of a meconopsis, which left many netizens irritated.

By June 25, the tourist had deleted the video, and her short video account had been blocked. Though haven't been added into the protected list, the meconopsis integrifolia shown in the picture, which can only grow in harsh high-altitude conditions, is also rare to see.

Experts say that it takes six to seven years for a meconopsis integrifolia seed to germinate and mature. "Picking meconopsis integrifolia is an uncivilized behavior. And the tourist should be criticized against societal standards," the expert said. "People should hold a sense of awe toward nature."
