Recently, some netizens noticed a "women-only" swimming lane in the shallow water area when they were swimming in the Shanghai Swimming Center.

In this regard, pool staff said that the reason for designing such a special lane is that on the one hand, it can help avoid unconscious touching, and on the other hand, it also plays a better protective role for girls who are less confident swimmers

There are eight swimming lanes in the pool, the women-only lane is set in the shallow water area.

Swimmers do not need to make an appointment.

The new rules sparked heated debate among netizens, with some netizens saying that such a setting is necessary because when there are many people swimming in the gym, it may cause a collision and it's usually dangerous for women who are not familiar with swimming.

However, some netizens also said that it is not practical to set the women-only lane in shallow water, but it is better to divide the lane into different levels for everyone to choose.

"The intention is good, but it would be better if it could be improved," one netizen said.
