A bus carrying 21 Chinese tourists overturned on Tuesday in Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam, killing four people according to preliminary reports from the Vietnam authorities, the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City said on Tuesday.

Eight seriously injured people have been transferred to the comprehensive hospital in the province, and the rest have been sent to nearby hospitals, according to the Chinese consulate.

After receiving the report of the accident, the consulate general immediately launched an emergency response mechanism for consular protection of Chinese citizens, coordinating relevant authorities in the province to carry out rescue efforts. The consulate general also contacted employees from Chinese enterprises nearby to assist in the rescue.

Relevant staff from the Chinese authorities have also been dispatched to the province.
