A suspected sika deer entered a residential area in Xiangyang, Central China's Hubei Province on Tuesday, and enthusiastic residents called the police for help. After 15 minutes, park rangers led the county forestry bureau wildlife protection unit staff to check. After professional identification, the animal was identified as a roughly one-month-old muntjac cub, belonging to the national protected animals with important ecological, scientific and social value.
The little muntjac is only a month old and is too small. Although it has no trauma, it is still dangerous to release it now, according to local police. After discussion, the staff decided to transfer the muntjac cub to a wildlife rescue center for professional feeding, and then release the baby muntjac to nature when it grows up.
Netizens acknowledged and thanked the warm-hearted residents for their actions and appreciated the responsible attitude of relevant departments.
