For the first time ever, the Guilin Festival, founded in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is being promoted outside the country.
A promotional conference in Edinburgh, Scotland on Sunday brought not only food and drink, but also the traditions, culture and art of Guilin, a top travel destination in China, to the UK.
The promotional conference was attended by a number of institutes in Guilin and Edinburgh.
The conference was unveiled with distinctive Scottish bagpipe welcome music as well as the three treasures of Guilin served on table: May flower drinks, Guilin rice noodles and oil tea.
The Guilin Festival, running from October 27 to November 5, will take place right after the ongoing Edinburgh International Festival, a chance for both cities to conduct exchanges based on cultural events.
According to plans, various stage plays from around China and abroad will be invited to Guilin for the upcoming festival. Nearly half of the temporary stages built for the festival will be built in natural spaces such as caves and grasslands to provide audiences a unique experience.
Guilin is a city of stunning views. Its mountains and rivers have earned the title of "Best under Heaven."
The festival was started in 2022 with the support of the Guilin government.
