On August 8, nearly 5,000 pigs and over 10 workers at the Weichen Pig Farm in Handian town, Harbin, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, were trapped by floodwaters, desperately needing rescue. Sun Hui, the person in charge of the farm, stated that the water was about 70 to 80 centimeters deep. Rescue boats could not enter, and although they found a farm vehicle, it could only carry 20 pigs at a time. Sun posted a video online to search help.

After viewing the plea, netizens offered various suggestions. Some proposed opening the pigpen gates to let the pigs swim out and then directing them to safe places. Others recommended seeking help from local animal protection associations and the fire department, prioritizing the safe evacuation of workers.

A representative from the district fire department stated that all available resources are currently being used for flood rescue. They have already reported the case to higher authorities, and once the flood situation stabilizes, arrangements will be made to evacuate the pigs.
