Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday, during which the two sides pledged to achieve win-win cooperation in various fields.

Recalling his successful visit to China in March, Anwar said that China is a reliable and good friend of Malaysia, and the two countries have a special and friendly relationship with robust bilateral cooperation, noting that the two sides have actively implemented the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and made significant progress in the cooperation on economic issues, trade, investment, culture and tourism.

Calling Anwar an old friend of the Chinese people, Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that the leaders of the two countries have established solid mutual trust and friendship, and pointed out the direction for jointly building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future.

China is ready to work with Malaysia to maintain the sound and strong development momentum of bilateral relations, bring more benefits to the two peoples, and make new contributions to regional development and revitalization, Wang said.

Noting that the Belt and Road projects in Malaysia, such as the East Coast Rail Link and the "Two Countries, Twin Parks," have achieved good economic and social outcomes and showed the broad prospects for practical cooperation, Wang said that China is willing to share market opportunities and expand cooperation fields so as to achieve mutually benefit, win-win results and common development.

Wang also met with Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs Zambry Abdul Kadir.

Wang said that Malaysia is a friendly neighbor of China and also a priority for China's diplomacy in the region. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia, and in 2024, the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. China is willing to work with Malaysia, guided by the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, to summarize successful experiences, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the deepening and solidification of the China-Malaysia community with a shared future, Wang said.

Zambry responded that the Malaysia-China relationship is strong and close, and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries has made significant progress. Malaysia will continue to support and actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and fully promote key projects.

Both agreed to strengthen communication and coordination, maintain the central position of ASEAN, and promote regional peace and stability.
