An international public art symposium commenced in Shouan Town, Southwest China’s Chengdu, on Tuesday, as part of the 2023 Chengdu Europe Culture Season. Themed "The Way of Harmony," the art symposium draws inspiration from Chinese culture and harmonious philosophy.
According to Shu Xingchuan, the chief planner and associate professor at Southwest Jiaotong University, the symposium expands upon the concept of “harmony with nature, harmony with art, and turning decay into magic.”
Over the past five years, it has generated long-term impacts at home and abroad, along with establishing an art park which houses a total of 53 art pieces by 51 artists from countries like China, Spain, and France.
At the core of Xu Zhenglong's idea, a professor from Tsinghua University, the art collections and discussions have achieved the goal of stirring public interest in cultural passion, enhancing spaces with professional knowledge, and providing a compelling example of how public art empowers rural revitalization.
