China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said it will step up efforts to secure the quality of data during the ongoing fifth national economic census, the Xinhua News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The census will place data quality as the top priority and the bureau pledged to defend the lifeline of data quality. In terms of data collecting, the NBS is mobilizing trained personnel to ensure data quality.
Collected data will be immediately assessed and processed by making use of the big data technology and other scientific methods, the report said.
China's State Council said on December 1, 2022, that the country's fifth national economic census will be conducted in 2023, and it set up a
leading group to take charge of the organization and implementation of the economic census.
According to the bureau's work schedule, a comprehensive and thorough indoor survey will be carried out from August to October, said the NBS, with initial batch of data collected expected to conclude by December 31, 2023.
The economic census takes place every five years. It comprehensively investigates the developing scale, layout, and efficiency of China's secondary and tertiary industries to get to know the the basic situation of the country's various economic units.
