Northeast Asia is one of the most dynamic regions in the world and also one of the regions with concentrated global security hotspots, which offers important development opportunities as well as severe challenges, said Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, in a high-level representatives' meeting on security affairs with Russia and Mongolia in Moscow on Tuesday.
Wang, Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and Jadamba Enkhbayar, secretary of the Mongolian National Security Council, attended the meeting on Tuesday.
As important countries in the region, China, Russia and Mongolia are close neighbors and friendly partners providing mutual assistance. In the new situation, strengthening trilateral cooperation has inherent geographical advantages and deep traditional foundations, which is in line with the common interests of the three countries and is conducive to consolidating regional development consensus, Wang said.
China is ready to work with Russia and Mongolia, based in Northeast Asia and with a global perspective, to seek effective paths for deepening cooperation, promoting regional prosperity and stability, sharing the fruits of regional development, Wang noted.
During the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand in 2022, the leaders of China, Russia and Mongolia successfully held a meeting and reached important consensus, providing guidance for future cooperation.
The three countries have close positions on major international and regional issues, and will jointly resist external interference, prevent color revolutions and uphold multilateralism, establishing a fair and reasonable international order, Patrushev said.
Enkhbayar said that it is the top priority of Mongolia's diplomacy to develop friendly and cooperative relations with China and Russia. Mongolia opposes a unipolar pattern and lining based on ideology, and Mongolia is willing to strengthen political mutual trust with China and Russia, and make the cooperation among the three a model for regional cooperation.
The three countries spoke highly of the results of the cooperation so far and agreed to further cooperate closely to jointly maintain regional security and stability.
