The Chinese edition of Revelations, the leading biennial for contemporary craft in France and Europe, is set to take place in Beijing during the 2024 Beijing Design Week next September, as announced in a press conference held in Beijing on Tuesday.
This inaugural art expo stands witness to the cultural exchanges between China and France, facilitated through the collaborative efforts of China's Beijing Design Week and the Ateliers d'Art de France.
Since the inception of Beijing Design Week, its mission has been to emphasize the amalgamation of creative design and handicrafts, along with the integration of traditional handmade products into modern life, said Wang Yudong, Chairman of Beijing Design Week on Tuesday.
"Working with Revelations China brings the world's artists together for a shared future," he added.
Revelations serves as an economic, cultural, and institutional platform for developing business and global networks within the sector. Romain Juilha, the curator of Revelations China, anticipates approximately 30,000 visitors from around the world, predominantly including private collectors, decorating and art professionals, cultural and museum institutions, as well as journalists.
He noted that in China, crafts are embraced by the entire population, where the refinement of these crafts inspires artists worldwide.
The Revelations China art expo holds significant importance in the cultural exchanges between China and France, especially in 2024, as it marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the two countries, coinciding with the Year of Culture and Tourism.
